Freezing rain is probably worse than snow. It's really hard to drive on ice. Most vehicles can get through even a moderate amount of snow.

Freezing rain is much worse. Snow sucks to drive in but at least you can see it. With freezing rain, you can't tell what it is half the time until you're driving on it. From my experience (when I lived in Michigan), you'd have to get a good amount of either to have classes canceled. Be careful if they're not!

Snow usually cancels. But freezing rain is the worst and most dangerous precipitation, because it freezes everything! Ice storms are caused by freezing rain. Black ice is also caused by freezing rain, and it's invisible to the naked eye, the slightest thing can send your car spinning out of control. It all depends where you live though. If you live to the north chances of a cancellation are smaller than they would be in the south, because in the south people are incapable of driving in such conditions.

Freezing rain will get your classes cancelled definitely! I live in Austin, Texas where it snowed & rained(freezing!) for about a week. My classes were cancelled for 3 days. Mainly it was because the roads were too slippery. Either one melts though & creates the slippage which is too dangerous for driving.

If your getting freezing rain than you'll have a 97% chance that there is no class tomorrow. People can drive in snow with little to no problem. Driving on ice, major problem.

I'd take driving on snow over freezing rain anyday. But if you want classes to be cancelled, snow, and lots of wind, is probably going to win out over freezing rain.

freezing rain is the most dangerous

in 1998 a huge storm dumped a ton of freezing rain in canada knocking out power to over 4 million and killing 25. Millions of trees were also knocked over causing huge losses in the maple syrup industy

freezing rain = lots of icy roads and possible power outages

however, it does melt faster than snow. With a nice combo of snow(>1inch) plus a layer of freezing rain will probably make secondary roads atleast unpassable enough for a two hour delay

freezing rain is my guess- I think it would cause for more hazardous conditions. So I'd say sleeping in is a safe bet! Hey but don't curse me out if you have school- I'm not a meteorologist... So maybe wake up for a sec in the AM and check things out. Tootles.
