Lately I've been having very sharp pains in what I believe is my cervix (it feels like it), is this normal? Is it the baby's head jamming me or could it be my cervix is dilating? Has this happened to anyone else before. I'm 37 weeks and 5 days.

I am 37 weeks and 3 days, and having the same thing. I know that I am 2.5 cm dilated and her head is deeply engaged. Not sure if those pains are from actual dilation, but it sure feels like something is happening! It feels like she is trying to push her way out. At least it's a short pain!

Take care!

dont worry, it is completely normal to have pains down there. I had them alot. its just your organs being pushed around and the baby is probably in a position that is putting extra pressure there. my baby also sat on a nerve that gave me pains in the side of down there by my bikini area. also harmless and normal. dont rule out your cervix opening. 37 weeks is considered term for going into labor. the baby is pretty much ready to go now and if it stays in you longer it is only growing in size now. be happy if labor is on its way. that just means it'll be a little smaller for you to push out.

Very normal, and probably is dilation. I had it starting around 35 weeks, farther along it happened more often, and hurt more. And man it HURTS. I was 3CM dilated at 38 weeks. Good luck!

Does it feel like you have a lot of weight on your hips? I have two children and when i was close to delivering, both of my kids made it hurt like it felt like i was just stretching hardcore. Dont know how else to explain it! But when i had that pain i went in and sure enough i was going into labor if i was you i would do just that. Just to be sure! Cause you never know what it is untill you see your ob!

Yes, it's just your baby kicking and forcing his/her head down causing pain.
