Congratulations.
Oh, pregnancy tests are all about harmones. Female harmones. Guys have female harmones, but in small quantities. Girls have male harmones, also in small quantities. If for some reason, you have more male harmones than normal, it can affect the results of the pregnancy test.

I looked up "false negative pregnancy tests" and found lots of information on false urine tests... but couldnt find much on false blood test. The only reason for a false negative blood test would be lab error...according to what I could find...
Here is what wikipedia says about false negatives:
False positive/negative tests
False negative readings can occur when testing is done too early. Quantitative blood tests and the most sensitive urine tests usually detect hCG shortly after implantation, which can occur anywhere from 6 to 12 days after ovulation.[1] Beta hCG levels rise exponentially in the first two months or so of pregnancy so the earlier the test is performed, the higher the chance of a false negative result. Less sensitive urine tests and qualitative blood tests may not detect pregnancy until three or four days after implantation. Menstruation occurs on average 14 days after ovulation, so the likelihood of a false negative is low once a menstrual period is late.
**I would go into your doctor and explain your past experience with false negatives and ask for an ultrasound... that will let you know for sure!***

I don't have a true scientific answer for you, but I do have a story where I can relate. My son was invitro, so we were watched very closely from the beginning. Whenever I took pregnancy tests, they were negative and even my HCG level was not normal. They did an ultrasound at 6 weeks and there was a gestational sac, but no sign of an embryo. They said it was not a viable pregnancy and that I would miscarry. Then, continued bloodwork showed my HCG level continuing to increase (not at a normal level), but they said my body would not miscarry, so they needed to do a DNC. The day before the DNC was scheduled at 7 weeks, I went in for one last ultrasound and there was a heartbeat. Amazing! Now I have a 13 month old. So, to kind of answer your question - sometimes I just think that science is unable to completely read a physical body, because everyone is so different. Good luck!

The pregnancy hormones arent strong enough for the tests to pick up... let the doctors know that you have a history of showing negative results and to possibly do an ultrasound just to make sure there is something or nothing there... and be calm cuz that could be another reason that you are late... but sounds like you may be pregnant!!

I think it's very weird that you cannot get a positive home pregnancy test. I would goto your doctor, and explain what happened in the past. If you are 4 weeks late, and know your body then you're probably right. Good luck!

Some tests are more sensitive to the pregnancy hormone than others. Also, are you taking the tests first thing in the morning when your urine is more concentrated and the pregnancy hormone is easier to detect?

no one is perfect, especially doctors. no matter what kind of tests they come up with, there will always be someone like yourself who just isn't compatible with it. there's nothing wrong with you i'm sure. but if you are pregnant again...congratulations!

I've heard of this happening. You probably are right, as you know your body. Be sure to treat your body as you are prego, that way, if you are, baby and you will be healthy.
