That depends on what you want it to do! Sit down and make a note of what you expect it to do. If you want to play graphics intense high end games, you will need a system with a fast processor, a bunch of ram, and the latest in video cards with lots of video memory.

For the most part computers are just about the same no matter what brand you get; that is unless you choose a Macintosh over a Windows based PC. The real question is what are you going to use it for? If you do any kind of gaming I would recommend something with a high end video card and a lot of RAM. But if you are just your average PC user who might type up a document once in a while and primarily surf the internet I would recommend something basic. Maybe a 2.0 GHz AMD or Intel Processor, 1GB of RAM (because you can always use RAM), but otherwise nothing else particular. Do some price checking, look at http://www.dell.com and some office supply stores like Office Depot, Best Buy, Circuit City, and such for what they have available. But honestly any more there is very little difference in computer brands.

You can buy HCl, HP or Lenovo computer. My friend have bad exprience with LG.
But I suggest you to build your own computer. First buy your parts and Assemble them with the help of your friend who is expert in it or tell to your retailer to assemble it. Here are some suggestions for the own parts.
1> Motherboard: Intel Pentium 4, 3Ghz, 1GB RAM, 17inch TFT
2> Hard disk Brand : Sygate (I have bad exprience with Samsung)
3> Monitor : The monitors of View Sonic are best.
4> Graphics Card : nVidia Geforce 6200 or better.
5> CD DVD combo : LG or Sony
6> LAN Card : D-Link

Get an Apple computer. They are a little on the spendy side but worth it: well designed, good looking, quality parts, easy to learn and use, and will still run windows if you absolutely need it.

Also, Apple computers are known to keep their resale value much longer then your average hunk-o-junk dell.

I've got to agree with AnthonyA on this. But Apple does have some basic models that aren't too pricey, and you get lots of good integrated software. Plus you don't have to spend on Anti Virus stuff like PCs.
When my PC gets old I'll replace it with a Mac.

Don't look at emachines! I bought one from walmart when the new ones came out about 3 weeks ago, and it was junk -ran slow! Kept freezing up! Put it this way you get what you pay for . So expect a higher price for a better brand!

Do NOT buy an HP...check on line, they are getting away from the computer thing, you need help, better know and understand the language from another country, that is IF you can get through, do not plan on calling in, in the morning before work, or on your lunch break..because you will be late to work, or miss your lunch break, you have been warned.
