Is this a name he gave himself or did the media coin the term? Does it have any relevance to the symbols in his cyphers?

He referred to himself as the Zodiac. The symbols were just a substitution code. The symbols he used, as I recall seeing them on the history channel, were drawn from various places including semaphore flags.

that is the name the killer gave himself/herself... he sent taunting letters to the authorities, and secret messages, they cracked one of the codes but three still remain unsolved... this person was one sick, demented, highly intelligent person

it was all his own referral by the times he killed his victims.it is just really hyped up right now by hollywood.he was just a sick **** but actually was not so smart if you read the history he wasnt a very smart person i cant believe he got away with it
