I first visited Malaysia in 1955 as a member of the Royal corps
of Signals, at that time Malaya still had a state of emergency &
G.B. was still fighting the terrorists
To get to the north one had to board a train in Singapore bound
for Kuala Lumpar where you changed to a train onwards to Prai.
I was based in Butterworth, from where we used to visit Taiping
Ipoh, & Alor-star & as far north as Kroh.Of course it was only a very short ferry trip to Penang.
The point I would like to make ,is that there were no sky-scrape
rs in those days, & it was the most beautiful country along
with the most beautiful people, Now it has grown, & matured
with modern buildings with lots of the old sights gone.
But I tell you this its still the most beautiful of countries with even more lovely people, I have now been back six times, alas I think my last visit was my last ,But having travelled all over the
world with the exception of South America, I would say that
Malaya is the finest place on Earth.

Malaysia is cool. The Petrona Twin towers (as seen in Entrapment) are breathtaking. Go to one of the beach areas and see paradise (light blue water)...
Jungles, caves, INCREDIBLE food. Avoid the durian though.
