My step-mother-in-law took it upon herself to give my 6 month old daughter, Jaymie, cereal mixed with Sunny Delight when I had her watch my daughter for about 30 minutes today. I left Jaymie with her and said, "She just ate, and I'll be back in about 30 minutes..." Now it's 12:30 at night and Jaymie has been waking up about every 20 minutes crying. Sunny Delight has ingredients that I cannot even pronounce in it!!! My wedding is tomorrow at 11:00 a.m., and I am SO VERY TEMPTED TO CALL HER AND TELL HER TO COME OVER TO WAKE UP EVERY 20 MINUTES WITH MY DAUGHTER... That way I can get about 5 hours of sleep before my wedding!
I guess my real question is, does anybody know the reprocutions of Sunny Delight with infants? Also, I have given Jaymie some Mylicon (gas/stomich releif for newborn infants) as well as baby Tylenol... Anything else besides wait for Jaymie's stomich ache to go away? Thanks everyone!

Correction: she's never had kids of her own, so she doesn't really know better--she's not ALL bad :)

babies really shouldnt have sunny delight i dont think. But im sure that if it wasn't that much, then it wouldnt hurt her too bad. Just maybe give her a little stomach ache, because the acidity in the juice it too much for her little belly to handle. Make sure that you tell your mom to not feed her when you have said that she has already been fed. That could be the part of what made her sick too, when babies get too much to eat, it could make them get an upset stomach because their bellies are really small.

Good luck with this, and congratulations on your wedding tomarrow. Don't worry, i am sure that there was nothing in the sunny delight that could of hurt your baby.

Well, I never gave my kids anything like Sunny D until they were much older and only for an occasional treat. It probably won't really hurt her, although I could understand if you want to hurt your in-law. Just hold your darling little girl and rock her quietly and you will both get through the night. There will be many more sleepless nights that will be far more scary than this one....trust me. Someday you will laugh about this...in a few months or so...Good luck and have a happy wedding in spite of the lack of sleep!! Congrats...

She'll be fine her poor tummy is going to bother her for a while though. I'd definitely call the step-mother-in-law and have her get up with her. This makes me think of when my daughter was 2 days old and her father (the genius that he is) gave her straight apple juice. I told him not to do it his response was "I've had a kid before I know what I'm doing" So I let him give her the juice knowing full well it would not turn out well. Needless to say she puked immediately (all over him :-) ) She was fine right after that and it taught him a valuable lesson.

You should have her come and watch the baby! I don't really know the answer to your question but in my opinion I think at 6 months the sunny delight will not harm Jaymie... the acid could have given her heartburn though.. it does to me.
I would make sure to tell your M-I-L not to give Jayme anything that you haven't already introduced to her.

I'm sorry...

The world is full of nuts...I would give the peds a call just to be on the safe side and i would call the step person and give her a piece of my mind. I am so sorry for little Jaymie, best of luck with your wedding tomorrow.

I can't think of anything else you can do, but its probably the acid in it causing the pain, especially if she gave it to her straight without adding any water...the Tylenol should only take about an hour to work though. Good luck, and congratulations on your wedding tomorrow, hope everything goes well for you!!

First off, Sunny Delight does have allot of diffrent ingredients. Im sure your daughters stomach is very upset-try giving her some pedialite or a warm bath to calm her.

Sunny D has a really high sugar content.....definitely NOT for babies (as you already know)
It's giving her cramps and she'll probably have the runs.
I'd offer her some water (not too much) to help it along.......& then have a good long talk with Grammy!

The only problem she is having is her stomach hurts because the juice made her stomach upset because of the fact she isn't suppose to have juice that young. Not suppose to have juice until over the age of one. The only thing you can do is put her on your stomach for the heat to make her feel comfortable or put a heating pad on low and lay it on her belly.

I would not leave my child there again. For 1, you told her "she just ate". For 2, why do in-laws think they can just do whatever they want? I am going through the same thing (with in-laws)? I wish I could help, but good luck with your wedding!
