first of all HOW OFTEN DO YOU CLEAN YOUR TANK? limescale is usually indicative of hard water ( contains a lot of minerals) next, do ya have stagnant water or is it filtered? have a bubble stone, or something to keep the water moving. Still water can cause a disease in the turtle, PLS TAKE IT THE YOUR VET if yours doesnt treat reptiles, he can refer u to an exotic animal vet. after yu r sure it isnt medical, treat water with a better water treatment, it should be corrective for hard water, chlorine, certain parasites etc.

I don't know what to do about limescale on the turtle, but take everything out of the tank and clean and scrub it with white vinegar. It works pretty well getting that nasty stuff off. Check with your reptile vet about the turtle!

Apparently you have very hard water where ever you are at. Use bottled water (gal) you can get at the store for less than a dollar. This should help. You can use 1/2 water and 1.2 vinegar solution with a nylon scrub pad and get this off the turtle shell. Just don't scrub too hard.

Um, I don't clean my turtle tank out twice a week.. in fact, I don't do it once a week. LOL I have a great filter, so I *might* clean my turtle tank once a month.

They make special sponges you can buy at a petstore, or I've heard that you can use one of those nylon scrubbies that you can get for your pots and pans.

Good Luck!
