hi thetrible,

this hard drive that you are talking about will definitely work with your HP notebook.
the drive that you are talking about is specifically designed for Desktops and servers.
check out this web link : http://www.superwarehouse.com/IBM_80GB_IDE_Hard_Drive/09N4226/po/143338

all you will need to do is to get hold of a specifically designed power cable and the USB adapter which will not cost you much.

the only problem that you might face on using this drive is that you will have to restart the laptop every time you connect it to your notebook as it sometimes fails to detect the disc.
so be careful about this and think twice before purchasing the disc as it might become a problem for you rather than being a problem solver.

but in the nutshell, the answer to your question is a YES, as this disc is bound to work on your notebook.

hope that this info will be of help to you,
tc,
bbye

A lot of notebooks and laptops have small hard drives (size not capacity) to allow them to fit inside the case. If the drive you mentioned is such a drive then it's quite possible. Also you could get a HDD case and use the drive as an external drive via the USB port. These cases are under $100. Good luck!

Both will NOT work on a laptop, unless you buy external USB casing, (like this one) http://www.mwave.com/mwave/skusearch.hmx?SCriteria=AA40980&CartID=done&nextloc=
if you want one to go inside the laptop you'll have to make sure that the hard drive is 2.5" you can find these hard drive at most computer stores, like circuit city, best buy, fry's, compusa, i usually order online through these website they have alot better prices then stores and bigger selection
