Because the Big Corporations wouldn't be able to get any cheap labor to do the jobs of the Americans who do not want to work for nothing with no benefits . These are the same companies that do not believe in a minimum wage. These are the same people that they hire them as Gardner's,cooks and house keepers. They don't believe maybe a terrorist will come across the border with a nuclear war head in a suit case that could take a whole city out. So much for George Bush's Homeland Security.

For the safety of all Americans, the borders should be closed
and no one should be allowed to enter. If they want to live here they should go about the way many immigrants that has
made this Country their home. I heard tonight I believe on the
Glenn Beck show, that a shady deal between Mexico and some of our Congress could be the reason we have so many illegals. I was unable to watch the show so I don't have all of the details. Doesn't surprise me, some one is aways lining their pockets, while other people suffer. And according to the word of God those involved in these scandal will bust HELL wide-open!

with everything going on in the world and in our country )terrorism and illegal immigrants) the government has to do SOMETHING. I understand the whole thing about America welcoming foreigners and being a 'big melting pot', but we can't just let anyone into our country. It's ridiculous!! I think the government should create a VERY good screening process for anyone wanting to enter the US. If there is a good person, who has no criminal history, and wants to became a LEGAL American citizen, I think that's fine. But we, as Americans, cannot continue to pay taxes for the illegal immigrants. I really feel that by being illegal, they are showing no respect for our country and will not contribute to our country. Also, it doesn't make any sense to me why US companies are sending all their jobs to Mexico, and all the Mexicans are coming to the US. Anyone else see a problem with that??

Open borders is an open invitation to drug peddlers, terrorists, system abuse, etc etc etc
Every nation has a right to secure borders, so why does the US get slammed for wanting the same? We are an accomodating country that welcomes legal immigrants from all over the world. The key word is LEGAL. It is NOT racist to want secure borders.

Our borders should be closed, but won't be as long as bu$h is in office. He needs the cheap labor to build the super high-ways going across our country. He wants no union labor and no help from longshoreman...just spanish speaking labor please...thank you....

They should,but because the corporations want all that cheap,illegal labor,the Republican Administration will block any attempt to do so.Anything that helps the rich get richer and live off the backs of the majority of average citizens is what this President is all about.
Profits are more important than security as far as they're concerned.

I thank God for the foreigners here in the US whom are well respected doctors, nurses, restaurant owners, etc...one performed a successful heart surgery on my father..The ones who EARN a US citizenship, not just marry into it..Those who are helping to pull their weight to make the US the great country it is....But as far as people coming into our country..it should only be the LEGAL way..we should crack down on illegal immigrants, we have enough problems..we should be careful with our prejudices though.

I agree, although I would have no problem with immigrnats who want to come here AND follow the rules. My mother did. She pays taxes and lives an honest life. There is no reason we should have illegals here at all. And they should not get any benefits until then.

No they should be closed and the INS should be hiring thousands of workers and they need to start working or the next administration will revamp their jobs and soon

Truthfully, they should be closed and I agree. We just keep 'lettin' them in' and they keep pi$$ing all over this government...and everyone lets them.
I say..lock down the borders and let no one in...or out...period. If they want to return to their homeland...fine...go, but you cannot return under any circumstances. You got family...take them with you. Bye.
