As much as running seems to be an inline movment with the knee joint, you risk tearing the whole joint apart if you should lose your balance or move your hip outside the normal range of motion. Muscles cannot replace the stability that the ACL or PCL provides. Your quads, hamstrings and calves do not hold the joint in its place. You could pop remaining ligaments and destroy meniscus with the impact generated by hard running on hard ground.

There is a web of ligaments around the knee that help hold it, but again, the ACL/PCL are KEY.

The training you can do depends on the amount of stability you have. If you overdo, you can break ligament and meniscus. That plus running sets you up for osteoarthritis later in life.

The ACL and the PCL have exactly opposite biomechanical functions. If your doctor can't determine which one is torn, you need to find a different doctor TODAY.

No! Running stresses the knee....you should try something with no impact such as swimming...I've had 7 surgeries on my right knee and I'm only 21....don't mess with your knees!
