Can they? Yes
Will they? Who knows. They have a strong young defense who was third in the league. But you have to score points to win games. Jamarcus Russell will be a big step in the right direction. Even better if they can keep Moss and Porter and get them to play with Russell. Hopefully Jordan stays healthy so him and Fargas can have a decent Running game. Then the O-line. Gallery still has done nothing. The rest of it is old and always injured. Jake Grove the center is the only solid player. If they can check out the free agency and pick up a guard and put a second round tackle next to him the will go 9-7.

I say the Raiders Draft WR Calvin Johnson, you know he wont be a bust because hes a once in a generation caliber player. Then i trade away Moss because the guy is turning into a disease for the Raider Nation. Next i go get some key free agents like QB Matt Schaub, who is very underated hiding in Vick's shadow. Then i try to sighn free agent Michael Turner the burner out of San Diego, who also is an underated player hiding in LT's shadow. Then ofcourse we need to hope and pray for the O Line, who is very young, developes and mesh's together better as a unit. With new head coach lane kiffin and a new offensive coordinater you can bet that the play calling will be much better and not nearly as predicatble as it was last year under dumb *** tom walsh. Our D is a super bowl caliber Defense and is young and very fast. Our offense just needs to do their job.

I think It is definitely possible.
The defense was a definite bright spot. I know the season is done with, but there were a few extremely close games, and they had a shot at a 5-6 win season. Although thats not great, its better than 2-14 haha.
The main problem is that they are in the AFC West, which makes it hard to get better when you have to play against San Diego and Denver 4 times (collectively)

If they play their cards right they can. Look at the Saints. They went from 3-13 to 10-6 and playing in the NFC chapionship game! All because they picked up good free agents(Drew Brees) and made good draft picks( Reggie Bush, Marques Colston). They should take Russell. He is a solid franchise quarterback. Another good pick in the second round would be Kenny Irons maybe or Michael Bush. Jordan did'nt produce all that good. With the free agents they could go after Lavar Arrington. Or Leonard Davis to fix that O-Line. Maybe Jeff Garcia cause we all know that starting position is up for grabs.

The raiders are gonna stay on the downhill for the next few years. They are gonna waste a draft pick on a QB when they need offensive linemen, they need to remember when Orlando Pace was the #1 draft pick over guys like Jim Drunkenmiller and Jake Plummer, or other position guys like Tiki Barber, Tony Gonzalez, Warrick Dunn, and Corey Dillon though this draft was not real big for the QB's.

No, I believe it will take the raiders several years of rebuilding to even become a competitive team.

Well, in my opinion, NO.
They had a chance in 2003, but they blew it.
So what if they get the 1st Round Draft pick? They're a bad team so one player won't turn them around, well unless they're trained by LT.
