man, all these idiots are saying peterson because his team made a BCS bowl. Lynch is indeed the best running back by a slight margin. Peterson is great. But Lynch is by far more versatile. He has great hands out of the backfield, can pass block when needed, and 1 guy can never take him down. you need 2. Peterson is great at running power down the field. but if i was head coach i would most def. take Marshawn.

He is close but no. Peterson's speed and size puts him ahead by a slight margin. Just a note watch out next year for Kenny Irons Running back from Auburn, he will go late first early second and will be ready for the NFL.(probably to the Raiders)

Lynch will probably be drafted earlier as his stock is rising because he is considered to be more durable and versatile. Personally I think Peterson is the best running back I have ever seen.

Depends on scheme. If you recall, many were shocked when the colts picked E.James over Ricky Williams years ago. What the colts knew that many didn't was that Edge was just a much better fit for their system. Teams that thrive with pure, take it and run guys like say the Ravens would prefer A. Petersen. Teams that require more versatile, pass catching types (colts, texans) would be best with lynch. That said, Petersen takes my breath away. I can't imagine he's not wildly successful if he stays healthy.

I've got to go with Peterson on this one. It's been reported that the Broncos are seeking a trade involving Plummer and Tatum Bell to better their draft position in order to get Peterson. The trade that looks most likely right now would be with the Browns, but that remains to be seen.

Maybe Peterson has more talent but he is always injured

The RB's in this class aren't that good
the best back will probably come out of the 2nd-3rd round

As an all around RB, maybe. As a pure runner, Peterson is probably better, though injury prone.

Is he the absolute best, no, but he is very, very good.

I watched him this season at a Cal game and I have to say I was very impressed.

Will be interested to see how he cuts it in the NFL though.
