make sure to take a multivitamin so you didn't become anemic (low iron) this can happen during your period.

Very normal. Brown discharge just means that there isn't as much oxygen in it (looks kind of old and dried up). Most women have a combination of brown and red over the course of their period. Mark it on your calendar and when you get the next one it should be more reddish. Keep track of when you get them so you'll learn how long your cycle is--normal is 28 days but it may take a while to get regulated.

Yes that was your period. Congrats girl! You're definitely growing up!
Also, luck you! Most people's last for 5-7 days, you've got a short period, so... you're lucky on that note.
If you get cramps, I suggest Aleve, just one works for 12 hours... or Ibuprofen (Advil)... Don't take those ultra generic things like pamprin or whatever that say they cure bloating and fatigue. All they are is aspirin or Tylenol and caffeine - aspirin doesn't actually help cramps, it's a blood thinner, not a inflammation reducer, and since cramps are just a constriction of the muscles in the uterine muscles, something which has an inflammation reducer like aleve, or advil is much more likely to help.

I'm a Mom and I think you should talk to yours. However I have 2 daughters and one of them began her periods pretty young, I think 9 yrs and she would spot brown, stop for a few day then spot again. Her pediatrician told me and her that your period is the build up of blood inside of the uterus, the bodies way to prepare for a baby. When there is no conception, all that has built up inside the uterus sluffs off and that is your period. What causes the uterus to sluff off the build up is the woman's hormone change. If your young or its one of your first periods, your hormone are just getting started and they may not realize as many that are needed to get rid of everything that needs to sluff off. It may be that the blood that has built up in your uterus has been there a while and has turned brown. I believe this is normal, but again, I would either speak to your Mom, your school nurse or call your pediatrician or doctor. This is all part of growing up, but it never hurts to check things out especially when your first starting your periods. Good luck with this.

This sounds very much like a period. The brown is old blood, and the red is new blood. It is often brownish towards the end.

Totally normal. Your body is changing and getting ready to one day house a baby. As you have more periods, the discharge will change color to red blood. The brown is old blood. Not to be alarmed.

That's exactly how mine was the first time when I was 12. I wasn't sure it really was my period at first, but it was. It takes a few months or years for your cycle to get really normal and regular.
So don't worry! It's normal!
