well i always thought that if the toaster is unplugged and you go to push the lever down, it wont even go down and stay? I had it unplugged once and forgot and put some bread in it and went to push the handle down and it wouldnt stay and i kept pushing it down until i realized it was unplugged.

No but I have done that to my coffee pot. I made coffee and forgot to plug it in so half an hour later, I was still waiting for it to get started only to realize it was unplugged. I thought that I would have to get a new machine.

The toaster I actually have were given is this variety of present day ones that in case you go away the electric powered off it is going to shout " Plug me in you prick" marvelous the flaws that they could do with instruments immediately because all of us understand the rampant rabbit has replaced dissimilar adult men.

No, but I ALWAYS put the clothes and detergent in the wash machine after I turn the cycle on and then walk away not realizing that I forgot to close the lid!!!

Not with the toaster, as I can't press the bread down if it's not plugged in.
I have done that with various other appliances though.
