I thought the program became repetitive , to reliant on cartoonism , and suffered from a drop off in script quality .

I still like the show. The gags are repetitive, (okay, we get it, Janitor hates J.D.,) but the characters are just too appealing to let go of the show. Everyone is quirky yet likeable. Besides, I think that a lot of the jokes and references are clever in comparison to most of the other shows on TV.

Generally, I like most of the show's trademarks, such as JDs inner monologue, Cox's rants, the cartoonism that you spoke of, and the much-appreciated absence of a laugh-track.

It isn't the best show on TV, but for 20 minutes out of my week, it is worth it. I can see how it wouldn't appeal to everyone, though.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. Here in Oz they put it on after Family Guy, and, although it was clever, it just seemed weird trying to laugh at real people after seeing a cartoon...

I agree with you in principle, but I think that the show stayed good at least a little beyond the first season. The most recent shows are undoubtedly awful, though.

Never watch the season 1. But I do like the reruns when nothing else is on.

It does use the same gags over and over again but it has some character development as well.

I like it, but I don't watch it regularly, only if I catch it and that's usually re-runs.
