Its after the kids go to sleep and its only one drink and it helps me sleep. Its not like I'm getting drunk or anything! What's his deal? Maybe he should have one and lighten up a bit. Its not even a full glass either. Just enough to relax. He suggested it along time ago. I asked him he just told me to quit. And its not every night either. Just occasionally. Why is he being such a stooge?

Nope, no alcoholics in his family. He gets passed out drunk with his buddies once in a while. I have one small drink once in a while. And its not even every week for me. Just when I feel like having one. I just don't get it...

Um, if you're needing alcohol to 'relax' than... you might be an addict.
Even if it's not every night, if you're using a chemical to 'relax' then you're not actually 'relaxing,' you're substituting a substance (alcohol) for allowing your body to naturally relax.

Plus, I know after even one drink, I usually don't sleep as well.
If you're needing something to get you to sleep, I would suggest to your hubby that he needs to give you a back massage! It's the perfect Valentines pick-me-up!

Also, a non-habit forming thing you can take to get your sleep cycle back to normal is melatonin. Your body naturally creates it, you know how you get sleepy at about 6, when the sun goes down? They sell melatonin over the counter, and just one mg for like 3-5 days taken at the same time every night should help re-enforce natural sleep patterns. (It worked great for me when I re-located to 1/2-way around the world.)

maybe he suggested it, but only meant for you to have a drink on that one specific night. He may feel that you are over doing it, although you say you don't do it every night.
He could have Alcoholism in his family and he fears that you are heading in that direction.

You said he suggested it a long time ago. So have you been doing it for a long time?

Just my thought!

He may worry about you not be able to quit it, if you can't quit it for one night. Try one night, so he can see is not a problem.

Depending on the drink, it's healthy to get one glass everyday, but perhaps before sleeping is not a good time, why don't after dinner, perhaps?

Good luck.

he suggested it? Then it does sound strange, is there anything that your leaving out? Is there something that he doesn't like when you get drunk...does he not get "any"? Are you a mean drunk or something? There has to be something at the root of his asking you not to, especially if he suggested it.

Are you stressed during the day? He may be worried that you're going to look to alcohol to take care of other things.

If it's red wine, that's okay :D It's supposed to protect against breast cancer!

A small drink of what? And you married him.
Maybe he doesn't like the smell of it in bed. Ask him why he gets mad.

Try 50mg of Benadryl (2 capsules) when he throws a tantrum! That will relax you too!
