I have tremendous respect for both of them. As far as a woman running a country is concerned, how about Margaret Thatcher? Indira Ghandi? Why are Americans so concerned about having a woman leader? And as far as having a black President is concerned, does the color of his skin matter more than the abilities he possesses and what kind of person he is?

Female President? Yes. Hillary Clinton? No.
Black President? Yes. Barak Obama? No.

Well of course I think it's high-time American voters grow up and start considering qualifications and track records rather than race, gender, and middle names.

My long-term concern is that the next president might have to pull a rabbit out of their hat to fix the enormous mess Bush created in Iraq... and if that individual happens to be female and can't find a rabbit, then I imagine it will be an extraordinarily long time before another woman has a shot at the presidency. (This isn't a lack of faith in Hillary, merely a recognition that Bush has gotten us in way over our heads and anybody would be hard-pressed to find a good solution.) I don't think the long-term fallout of such a scenario would be quite as severe if the commander in chief happened to be a black male... but I admit that's just a hunch.

I personally think both Clinton and Obama are good candidates with a lot to offer this country. I prefer Obama, mostly because he hasn't been mired in the game of politics for decades and I find that refreshing. But I'd be happy to see either one of them make the ballot, and he or she will have my vote (barring anything drastic and unforseen surfacing before the election).

And I'm really hoping either Bush cleans up his mess before he leaves office or his successor has a hat full of rabbits.

I'm talking about a Black or woman president in general when I say this. I wish the country were ready and maybe I'm a little cynical, but I don't think people or open minded enough yet. There are still to many prejudiced people that will be sure to vote against a woman or a Black candidate. It doesn't matter if they are republican or democrat. It doesn't matter what they stand for nor how qualified they happen to be. I still don't think they'd win.

What we are ready for is a president that will be a good leader , one that will help reestablish the Conservative values of self reliance and not looking to big brother to take us by the hand and lead us from cradle to grave. I really don't care if that person is male, female , black, white or Asian. I just want a good president.

I couldn't care less if the President is black or a woman. Just so long as it's a conservative. So neither Hillary nor Obama are qualified in my opinion. Now if Condi jumped in the race, I'd vote for her in a second.

America needs a competent president, whether it be the first female , first African American or neither.

If the majority is the old generation (baby boomers) that votes, which most of the time is the case, then they are not ready for either. It's enough that they had to go through the civil rights and women's movement, now a black or female president, PLEASE, they need a break! :-P

I think that They are both great candidates and if they were running against each other for president at the same time then I wouldnt be able to vote, But as a whole I believe that Hillary will be the stronger candidate for the general public when it comes time to vote.
