You didn't say which laptop or provide a link..

however I suggest you custom make your laptop on Dell...you can include/exclude the stuff you want.

check out those and click the customize link.

Thanks for the link. It should work well for you, but at 6.1 lbs (and normally that doesn't include the power adapter, so more like 7lbs) it is on the heavy range for lugging around school. If its mostly going to sit on a desk and only occasionally goto class then it should be ok. The finish is a fingerprint magnet and will begged to be cleaned every day. Of course, the battery life is probably not going to last you more then one or two classes of taking notes, so hope there are power outlets you can use at school. Vista might also be a problem for you as many people have reported problems playing CDs and DVDs with Vista.

Since it doesn't have a discrete graphics card, you won't be able to play most modern games but it should be good for playing less demanding games.

You didn't say what laptop. You are going to want something under 6 lbs (to lug around school), something with at least 1GB RAM, and at least 80GB hard drive space.

If entertainment to you means playing computer games, you'll need to specify what kind of games you play. You'll also need to make sure you get a laptop with a discrete (real) (not integrated) graphics chip.

Mobile or not, that is the question. You can not tweak out a laptop like a desk top with out spending 4 grand.Unless your heavy gaming then a laptop will do what you need.

Your choice -- though I notice you set your priorities with school last.

If that is your choice, you would probably like a laptop. I use my PC for serious work therefore I prefer a desk where I can put down paperwork and leave it -- to work on it when I can.
