Our 6.5 month old son sleeps in the most awkward looking position at times. He lies on his side with his back arched and his head and neck extended and rotated toward the mattress. It looks soooo uncomfortable and when I have tried to move him, he just returns to this position. He also loves to pull the blankets over his face and will repeatedly do this despite my pulling them down.

My little guy loved his belly and sides. As soon as he could roll that's what he did! Now he just turned 1 and for the last 5 months its all about lying on his belly with his butt in the air and no covers over him. He rubs soft blankets on his face, but won't cover up!

So cute

My brother always slept on his stomach with his knees pulled up to his chest underneath him, he still does it as an adult. My 2 month old daughter sleeps sitting up or at an angle 80% of the time with her head lolled to one side, and she pulls the blanket up over her face too. I get paranoid about it, but I started using a thin knit blanket that she can breathe through so I don't worry so much. I think your son must really like that position if he keeps going back to it, so I wouldn't worry so much. Just think, he's a lot more flexible than us creaky adults, so what would hurt us doesn't even seem strange to him. Good luck!

My 5 month old loves to sleep on his tummy with his knees curled under him. He also likes to shmoosh his nose into the mattress. I try to move him and he just puts his nose right back where it was.

My son has always slept on his back. That the only position. I try to get him to sleep on his side or stomach because the back of his head is kinda flat from sleeping on it too much.

i know it seems so uncomfortable for us to see it but it's comfortable for them...i know when my daughter is that age she'll do the same but she won't pull anything on her head except her hand so just watch when baby is sleeping to see if he or she puts something on the head, or take everything out of the crib...good luck

did you wrap your baby tight when you brought him from the hospital? your baby will sleep the way he's most comfortable. just because it looks uncomfortable to you doesn't mean that he feels that way. if he keeps going back to the position that you took him from he just might be tell you something[like i like it this way] good luck
