it's very disturbing to me when I hear of judges handing down light sentences to serious child molesters ( case in point:Judge Cashman in Vermont) with no concern for the victim's rights. Are we becoming a nation so focused on the "rights" of the criminal that we have lost our moral compass to do the right thing for those who are truly victims?

I'm quite suprised no one in America is familiar with this legal process...simply put....it is the abiliity of the courts (judges, lawyers & prosecutors) to take into consideration the background of the offender & try to rehabilitate, rather than punish him/her! Even in the case of serious sexual offences against children, the court sees the perp as someone who can be "saved"..with no regard to the seriousness of the crime or the effect on the victim!!!!

It is too sad that these days the judges and lawyers are the MAIN obstruction of justice...We always hear a lot about the corruption in American Justice System, but the World doesn't have any info about serious corruption in Canadian Justice System.
