I have a 1998 Chevy truck that used to be real nice but lately I have had a few mishaps. A dang cat was sleeping under the hood and I started it up and it made a huge mess and smelled like a rendering plant for about a week, my ex wife#2 smashed out my headlamps one night, My ex brother inlaw managed to blow up my airbag not long ago, we hit a dang bear just two weeks ago in Tenn and got blood and bear meat all underneath it but the worst thing so far is someone STOLE both doors and the whole bed off my truck one night. The cops kept pulling me over so I showed thgem i cut out a couple of plywood doors and screwed them on. Now someone with a Ford wants to race me. I figure my truck should be really fast with all those parts gone but am a little worried about flooring it with wood doors held shut with bungee cords. Does this sound safe to you?

I forgot to mention that we fixed the headlights. I bought two big flashlights from walmart and taped them to the fenders the night they were broke out but a cop pulled me over but laughed so hard he let me go if I promised to replace them with real ones. I am living in AL right now (I was sort of kicked out of FL last November -- see my 360 page) we were up in Tenn screwing around when I hit that dang bear and had to cut it out with a chainsaw. We threw the head into a dumpster at waffel house. Would have loved to been there when the garbage guy showed up.

Son let me tell ya what!!! I raced a 34 Ford with mechanical brakes (would not stop the car after a mile down the road) and it had a hopped up Chevy Mill under the ,well I didn' have a hood, and the body was held to the frame with tie straps against a MustangGT 1985 model I think) and blew his doors off!!!!oh yea my windsheild was out and I didn't have any goggles and it held together. So go for it !!!!! Are you guys taking bets on this race/ I might be interested in coming down to THE GREAT STATE OF TENN. TO WAGER SINCE HALF OF MY BLOODLINE CAME FROM THERE !!!!!

NOPE! Beside needing to go to the gereat car lot in sky your truck is equiped with a governer that will shut the engine down at about 99mph and then will kick back in about 95 mph. I have a 98 sonoma.

(just kidding)
You can't race anything on the street at 100 mph. If you can find a track Why not?. simply put a metal door latch on the plywood doors. A couple of bucks and 10 min with a drill and screwdriver and your done

Most car doors cannot be opened at 50 mph due to wind resistance. Doors that open from the front would just be ripped off by the wind if you opened them.

sounds like a personal problem, like you aint got enough of them , i would go 100mph with my ex behind the truck. then run over my ex brother in law,andwatch out for any damn bears. and if i saw the punk byouch who stole my doors i would just kamakaze the truck into his sorry ***. as for the ford boy i'd tell him i would rather push a chevy than drive a ford. ok.

yes it is perfectly safe. make sure to go on a snow covered road. also u might want to do a dry run first tocheck for critters on the road since that truck is like a critter magnet. it may help in the race if u pour some alcohol in the tank and then take a hit your self. good luck with the race. if you win, do u get to kiss your cousin?

sure you can drive as fast as you want but you might need to drive even faster when de police are chasing you to give you a ticket for not having *regulation* doors.
