The Civil rights movement is more history than what Wikipedia will let you know, it did creep up on mainstream America but for the ppl living it, it was a lifetime struggle that inspired Activist Groups like Black Panther Party, and they inspired other groups ex. Brown Berets. Bck to the point it was a response to everything going on at the time and they were lead by some of the most inspirational speakers and leaders of that era. Mainstream America was brought in when the ppl hit the streets, after that then nothing would ever be just that, everything would be questioned and ppl would stand up to injustice and the gov.

Read Malcolm X Biog. also read on the life of MLK Jr. Fred Hampton and Huey Newton, from their lives it will bring it closer to home as the events that brought them in.
