Only natural born citizens are qualified to be President as provided for in the Constitution. If there are successors who are only naturalized citizens, they will not qualify even in the position next to the President down the line.

I gather this refers to a previous question.
Gen.Colin Powell was born in NY. I know it seems like a foreign country, but really it is not. His parents were from Jamaica.

No, you're wrong. You can be born in Lithuania and still be President so long as at least one of your parents was a citizen. You can't be an immigrant and run for President. If you were born in France and both of your parents were French you're out of luck. But if you were born in France and your Mom was a citizen you can be President.

Article II, Sec. 1 of the US Constitution states: "No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President".

Under the United States Code Sec. 8, title 1401 paragraphs (c), (d) and (e) we are given the dirty details of this:

"(c) a person born outside of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents both of whom are citizens of the United States and one of whom has had a residence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions, prior to the birth of such person;

(d) a person born outside of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is a citizen of the United States who has been physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for a continuous period of one year prior to the birth of such person, and the other of whom is a national, but not a citizen of the United States;

(e) a person born in an outlying possession of the United States of parents one of whom is a citizen of the United States who has been physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for a continuous period of one year at any time prior to the birth of such person;"

So as long as one of your parents was a citizen or a naturalized citizen you can be President.
