Because, even though we have much more meaningful things to do, like work and earn a salary to support our financially struggling family, or to feed the baby, or to spend quality time with the kids, or to fix that damn leaky pipe beneath the sink in the kitchen, or tidy up the mess in the garage, or go cheer up a down friend, or go make love to our significant other (who would probably really appreciate it), we sit here, and we answer each other's silly questions.....
Pffffft.

I don't have any answer for it but I don't know that it is the hardest question to answer. I asked NW Airlines why they charged such a high fee to change plane tickets that are still 3 months out. And they emailed me 5 times. Each time I told them that they had still not answered my question and I just wanted to know why, not that the rule existed. Finally I just asked them to stop wasting my time since they couldn't answer a simple WHY question.
But if I were to venture a guess I would say that the reason that people do anything is because they have created a perception of the event that they are acting upon and are responding to how they perceive it, and that is why we all respond differently because we all develop our perceptions different ways.

because i'm tired. and my wrist hurts from typing and taking so many notes in class. and i don't much feel like it. because i'm nervous...about what everyone is thinking. and about what will happen if i do. because i'm not ready yet...i'll do it later. i don't really see why it has to be done anyhow (more like i don't want to). i suppose these are more like "why not?" answers. so to answer "why", i'll have to say "because i should".
