I suspect most people that would be put off by his race and/or his name probably aren't voting for a Democrat no matter who the candidate might be.
His inexperience may be what really hurts him. He is very passionate when he speaks. That may lend itself, in the particular rigors of a Presidential campaign, to him speaking before thinking and making an unrecoverable error in choice of words. All it takes is one bad misstep - look at John Kerry and Howard Dean, for instance. Just yesterday he said something he had to apologize for a short time later to try and minimize the damage. I don't have the exact quote but it was along the lines of saying that soldiers in Iraq have died for nothing. I also think his inexperience may hurt him in the debates. Many Americans wait until the debates before they make a final choice in who they plan to vote for, especially if they are wavering between one or two candidates. I like the man, very much. He isn't my first choice, but I wouldn't be unhappy if he were the candidate. I hope he transcends the possibility of those pitfalls, he seems to be a man of hope and vision.

His inexperience and his 'now visible' attitude regarding our troops. He was forced to apologize after telling potential voters on his first day of his campaign trail he was against the Iraq war and that over 3,000 brave soldiers died for NOTHING! I had considered him at one point, but cannot respect a mouthy newcomer who has not ever had his feet wet in the military. How the H would he know.

In this day in age, race isn't a positive or negative. Positives are he hasn't been around long enough for a lot of skeletons. This is also a negative since he doesn't really know how to make things happen in DC. His name is a definite disadvantage imo.
In all likelihood, he's running because a lot of Democrats feel he can beat comrade Hillary in the primaries and are sure that she is unelectable.

People dont know enough about politics to question his inexperience, they really dont want this to be about race any more than he does. So, it would have to be something people know and understand. Non smokers have a vendetta against smokers.

The gallup and CBS/massive apple situations polls only released instruct romney tied or ahead...only sayin. The republican conventional tussle only wound down...it replaced into to be envisioned that Romney's numbers might want to pass up once the frustrating fought Republican conventional produced its winner. it might want to be a good election. My prediction is obama in the precise might want to have a sparkling address next 365 days.

Can't knock his race, he's both blace and white, it is his inexperiance, his Muslim upbringing and his name and the fact that he thinks the soldiers dying in Iraq are a waste of life. Not that they died honorably for his freedoms but a waste.

I would hope that the answer would be inexperience. Realistically, it could be any of the three.

His race, of course, his name could be Bob Smith, he would still have to wear a bullet proof vest when making public speaches.

His race, his ethnic last name, the fact that he admitted doing coke/pot (as well as considered trying heroin). Those are just a few obstacles he has to overcome...especially in the Bible belt. I wish him the best, though.
