I think the east will win again but the only three teams I see in the east making it to the finals are detroit, miami, and washington.
You can't really count out one conference just because it's weaker, it's been done before in many sports. you also have to remember the nba has changed When kobe and shaq were together and Jordan and Pippen were together it was different because no other team had two players that could match them , now that kobe and shaq have parted ways it's wide open , even though wade and shaq is a good combo I still think the pistons have a better overall starting 5 and their bench is coming along. And if the west is so strong than how can dallas only have 9 losses? and phoenix only have 12 maybe just maybe the west isn't as strong as it looks maybe the top 2 teams are strong and everyone else is playing average under them. Yes the east is weak but washington, detroit, and cleveland are still solid teams. and miami will be better once riley gets back. And remember the pistons beat dallas by 10 at dallas this year. so I think there are teams that can handle the mavs, in a seven game series. You know detroit always gets counted out and I'm not sure why 1 championship the right way, two finals appearances in a row they've been to the eastern finals every year since 03. They've kept the core players intact tayshaun prince is the most underrated player in the nba, chauncy is the most underrated point guard in the nba, it puzzles me. and to top it off they haven't really missed a beat without ben wallace.
Maybe his presence is missed but webber has done well on the boards and he scores too. it's gonna come down to who wants it the most and in the end I think the pistons are the most hungry team, miami is fat and happy with their one championship. And david stern would probably make defense illegal if the pistons won another championship by playing hard tough nosed defense again which they have shown signs of lately. Yes I am a pistons fan but they really are a good team. And they have some of the best players in the nba. So why not them? they did it in 04 and almost in 05.

They could really win it all this year. They might have some trouble in the west. Don't count everyone out. Phoenix will still be great when Nash comes back. San Antonio's experience will carry them through the playoffs. Houston will be healthy and even better when Yao comes back. In the East, Detroit is their only real challenge. But the Mavs definitely have the capability of defeating all of them. But then again we never know what's going to happen. It's likely that the can win it all, but they have to get through the tough west first

Well actually i think the Mavs will take it this year, but i dont think its going to be easy.....Yes the Mavs look good right now, the question is..can they sustain it for the 2nd half of the season? everyone seems to be counting out the spurs because they have 18 lost games...they had 16 lost games at this point during their last championship run...so dont count them out! oh and for the person that said the Mavs were on a mission to correct last years mistake...Spurs vs. Mavs, had Ginobili not fouled Dirk..boy oh boy!!..East, lets not even go there..unless Shaq gets in reallllyy good shape in time for the playoffs!! ... Suns, i think they can beat the Mavs but Nash must be healthy...Houston, as much as i love T-Mac..he can never finish a season without his back hurting....but when it all comes down to it..i think you will see the Spurs and the Mavs go down again somewhere down the road...and i do see the mavs taking it all this time, but like is aid before..it wont be easy! ... then again, i still think its 2 early to tell..lets see if the mavs can sustain their winning streaks when it counts the most.

If Dallas makes it to the finals, they can win. I think that either Detroit or Chicago will be in the finals, and they don't have the depth or talent. Chris Webber at center? You can get away with that in the east but not in the west. Rasheed, Chauncey, and Rip Hamilton are good, and I like the Pistons, but Dallas is better. The German Gunner is great as usual, Devin Harris is coming along well, Josh Howard is an all-star, and Jason Terry plays quite well too. Plus they have Jerry Stackhouse, DeSagna Diop, etc.

No doubt this is the Mavs year. They have strung together numerous winning streaks this year after a poor 0-4 start. With a year under his belt, Avery is a better coach. Dirk is having an MVP like performance. The pieces are in place with Josh Howard stepping up his game, as has Terry and Stackhouse. They have the best conference record, division record, and an absurdly unbeatable home record. And of course they have the best record in the league. They will steamroll through the Spurs and Suns in the Western Conference playoffs and straight up take the East opponent to school regardless of who it is.

i'm a mavs fan also and that i think of their odds are very solid till they play the infantrymen and warm temperature in the playoffs. for some reason those are both worst communities that make the playoffs besides the undeniable fact that the mavs can not beat them. they could't close the deal. they are going to win the first 3 video games, be up 30 factors in the 4th quarter and blow it and not in any respect win for some thing else of the sequence

they don't have a weak east, detroit on a 7 game winning streak, if you haven't noticed this, but when both teams play, detroit always wins, watch these 2 teams will go in the finals. the only teams detroit has to watch for is miami and cleveland and they go to the finals

The core of the East is weaker than the West but the "Beasts of the East" are better than the West.
