Saint Valentine! A very long time ago, he was executed because he helped a couple get married when he wasn't supposed to. Young men had to go to war back then. That's why we celebrate Valentine's Day in his honor.

Saint Valentine's Day or Valentine's Day is on February 14. It is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other; sending Valentine's cards or candy. It is very common to present flowers on Valentine's Day. The holiday is named after two men, both Christian martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished.

valentines day comes from Saint Valentius, and the day is in honor of him....just like St. Patrick who drove the snakes out of Ireland and told the people about the 3 leaf clover which reminds us of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. St Valentine had to do with true love....his story is similar to that of Romeo and Juliet....

St Valentine was a christian who was fed to the lions in ancient Rome. The church gave him sainthood, and set aside Feb 14th as his saint's day. Because it was close to the date of the roman god of love the two holidays merged, and so we have our current Valentines day. It is also said that he gave the first valentine to the jailers daughter and signed it from Valentine, because she had been helping him with sending the early church messeges with a heart shape on them.
