I wish that only the homeowner could park in front by the curb. But since it is a public street, curb and sidewalk, anyone can park there. Common courtesy tells you not to park there, but you know how that goes!

While anyone can park there, it is a public road, and a car that has been left there for more than 24 hours can be towed. If it's there for a day, call some tow companies.
Technically, they have to stop towing if the owner comes out and tells them to, but not all of them do that even... So, if your neighbor's out for the weekend, and left the car....
Of course, this won't help you get along with them any, and you might want to try talking friendly a little first.

Sorry any one can park there, I too have had the same problem. I did have an enjoyable week end, one time, I borrowed enough cars and Pu`s parked them in front of my own house and across the street in front of his house also. Put them there Fri early afternoon, and did not move them till Mon afternoon. I was hoping he would call the tow truck. But he did not. If he had, his life would of been hell from now on. Remember he started it, I would of called the Tow truck every day.
A true happening, similar deal, this old man would do any thing, believe me. He went to the lumber yard and bought 10 lb of 1 inch flat headed nails (shingle) . He kept the edge of the street in front of his house well supplied with them. After quite a few flats, the neighbor decided not to park there. The old man called the cops and complained some one was dropping nails in the street. Wanted them to do something about it. His idea was if he complained first they would not suspect him.

I don't understand the question, are you talking about off street parking? If you are, just as long they do not block the entrance of the driveway it's legal. But a good neighbor should have the common courtesy to leave you enough room to let you in. If he doesn't ask him nicely to leave you room to get in and out. Unless you already burned that bridge. Then you have to live with it, but if he makes one mistake and block the driveway then quickly call your local police dept. so they can give him a ticket and tow it away..........
That will teach him......

It's public parking unless "posted" by authorities.
Has anyone ever asked the neignbors as to WHY they prefer street parking verses their driveway?

Do you have an HOA? If so, then you can complain to them. I know my HOA will not allow cars to be parked in front of other people's homes.
