We just moved into our house, and a section of our yard is chain link, and the neighbor doesn't keep his yard up at all. Eventually we will put up a wooden privacy fence in that section, but until then, I thought I'd let some blooming vines or something that grows fast to fill in across the fence so I don't have to see his unkept yard every day. Any suggestions?

You have to wait till plants get established before they will make a show. The fastest growing plant in the US is bamboo. Ivy's: English, passion flower, honey suckle & trumpet vine, to name a few. Call a nursery in yer area. Some will even come out & plant them for you. Or a landscaper will too. I like pyracantha bushes. They have long stickers, red flowers in the spring, red berries in the fall & the birds love the berries!

I covered an out-house with Mile a Minute Clematis, I only used two and they've covered the whole building. Even faster growing is Russian Vine, it's an evergreen, but be careful because it's an extremely evasive plant and never seems to stop.

Morning Glory and Fall Blooming Clematis come to mind. Virginia Creeper grows very fast and may work for you as well.
