first of all......did you have your antifreeze concentration checked lately?.......it,s possible that your radiator/cooling system....has frozen.....preventing circulation........2nd,check for stuck thermostat,3rd,check..belt,s & water pump for wear/function....also check for leak,s anywhere else......if all that check,s out.....have your cooling system pressure tested....if youve blown a gasket or cracked a head/block.....a pressure test will tell.

Thermostat stuck closed. Probably blew a head gasket and coolant is entering the cylinders. Does the exhaust smell sweet?

Well it could be your radiator, sounds like you may have a leak, that would explain the steam in such cold weather. Do you have to keep putting water in your rad? Or, it could be your thermostat, or even your heating core could be going. It's too hard to tell without really looking at it. If unsure you should take it to a mechanic. This is a warning, eventually, one of those is going to go and then you'll be sorry!!!!! Good Luck

Maybe the anti-freeze is old or worn out, which would allow ice to form in the cooling system. That would allow the vehicle to overheat. I'd have the anti-freeze checked and replaced, if necessary, and while you're at it, have the entire cooling system checked for leaks, weak hoses, and obstructions.
