For the individuals who are already set up with direct-tv, it is only a matter of signing up for the package. However, for those who are not set up, it becomes an expensive proposition. I can't afford this even with the "love" of watching my Red Sox. Can someone help me win a lottery????????

Yea, and its killing its fan base. It's not that much money they are getting in the long run, its sad. I will be using the online service on MLB.com MLBTV. It's pretty awesome for around 14 a month if you pay monthly instead of the whole year at one time. You can watch 6 games at the same time, or you can watch one game full screen and the picture is as good as on tv. Plus, you can look through the database of old classic games they have and watch certain moments or just watch games from last year, or even earlier on in the year. Might want to switch over to that. One small glitch is I think they blackout home games for your fav team if you live within the radius, but you can watch that on your local cable tv most of the time...

Unfortunately, Money drives MLB and anything associated with it. I've had DirectTv for years and it can be an expensive proposition for anyone but lets face it so has CableTV been. If you decide to switch to DTV you can order the basic package and MLB ticket and it will be lower than your cable bill was. It's when you order the Premium stations like HBO and Showtime etc etc that it start to be expensive per month. They do hook you with NFL ticket. Especially if you're into fantasy Football. I have to say that the picture is worth it.

Under the current so-called commissioner, that's been the motive for absolutely everything.

It seems pretty stupid and not thougt out to me, what happens after this deal is up and they decide to switch to Dish or a Cable network, does everybody switch back.......This is definitely alienating fans.
