At least how much space does one need to back up their files on the computer?

I want to put it in a flash drive maybe. Any suggestions?

Without compression you need the same amount of space as the total size of all the files you want to back up. With compression, you need anywhere from 50%-80% of that space, depending on the type of compression and the files. Most people use a smaller second hard drive as a standard home backup.

I would recommend doing some web searches, it's much too big of a question to answer here because there are hundreds of different answers.

It depends on the file you want to have a back-up. Large file needs large space and vice versa.
