LONG WORDS (ENGLISH)
PNEUMONOULTRAMICROSCOPICSILICOVOLCANOCONIOSIS (45 letters; a lung disease caused by breathing in certain particles) is the longest word in any English-language dictionary. (It is also spelled -koniosis.)

PNEUMONOULTRAMICROSCOPICSILICOVOLCA...‡ (also spelled PNEUMONOULTRAMICROSCOPICSILICOVOLCA...‡ = a lung disease caused by breathing in particles of siliceous volcanic dust. This is the longest word in any English dictionary. However, it was coined by Everett Smith, the President of The National Puzzlers' League, in 1935 purely for the purpose of inventing a new "longest word". The Oxford English Dictionary described the word as factitious. Nevertheless it also appears in the Webster's, Random House, and Chambers dictionaries.

I was under the distinct impression that the longest word in the English Language was "Floccinaucinihilipiliication"?
Meaning; "The act or habit of judging something to be worthless"

Not to be confused with the far less pedestrian "Pneumonoultramicroscopic silicovolcanoconiosis".
[I had to break it into two words just to get it on the screen].
Which, as We all know, is the inflammation of the "Psuedostratiefiedcilliated columnarepithelium" (another 'two-part' word) of the Trachea (throat) and Bronchea (lungs) as the result of breathing in the fumes produced by a Pyroclastic event.
I could be wrong but I think the word You are referring to is the scientific name of a long chain polymer created during the 1970's.

pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis, a 45-letter word supposed to refer to a lung disease contracted from the inhalation of volcanic ash, but research has discovered that this word was originally intended as a hoax. It has since been used in a close approximation of its originally intended meaning, lending at least some degree of validity to its claim.[1]
