Maybe the warning was there. But is THIS what happened?
If it was hidden, it was to prevent radical reaction against innocent Muslims. Muslim does not equal terrorist . Not all Muslims are terrorists, not all terrorists are Muslims, and NOT all acts of violence are acts of terrorism.
The Klu Klux Klan were never labelled terrorists. Gay bashers and murderers of homosexuals were never labelled terrorists and gang members killing each other and innocent people are NEVER labelled terrorists.
Were people warned? Yes. Is this what happened in this situation? Maybe not.

Yes, my understanding is that he was only 18 years old and a Muslim. If he did not like the U.S., he could have left our Country. I can assure you he is not in Heaven with 17 virgins. He most likely bust Hell wide-open! If Law-enforcement will investigate, I'm sure his two room mates may be in question.

I hadn't heard there was a suspect or that it was officially a "terrorist". One guy thought it could be terrorists testing the response, but the official story was it was just a prankster releasing mace.
