I can burn cd's but I dont know about dvds but I would like to know if I can and if I can how?

No. The format of a DVD is completely different than a CD.

You need a dvd burner. They don't go for much I bought my Samsung 18x DVD Burner online on www.newegg.com for $30. DVD Burners also burn CD's. If you had a DVD-ROM you could potentinally watch and copy the movie to the hard drive.

open up windows media player first u have to burn the cd into your computer and then copy it on a cd
