Most of these answers have been wrong. In Britain, since 1917 or 1918, the children of princesses by birth receive no title *unless* their father has a title of his own, like the husbands of Princesses Mary and Margaret, whose husbands were peers (Lords Harewood and Snowdon). Previously princesses' children were also called prince and princess but George V wanted to cut down on the number of royal titles and this new double-standard - treating the children of a sovereign's sons better than those of his daughters - was a way to do it. The daughters of Sarah, Duchess of York are called Princess (not Lady) because of who their father is. The only way Anne's children could have had titles would have been if her husband had taken a peerage; under the 1917-8 rules they would never have been prince or princess. The children of the only other living princess by birth, Princess Alexandra of Kent, have no titles, either.

It depends on the monarchy. In England the Granddaughter or Grandson of the reigning monarch is styled as a Prince or Princess, Earl or Lady. If the Queen did not want the child to be styled then it would not happen. If the Queen wanted to style the child as the Arch Bishop of Canterbury then she could, She is the Queen and the Head of the Royal Family.
In pre-revolutionary Russia, the Tsar was bound by centuries old customs to name his children Princes or Princesses of Russia, or Grand Dukes or Grand Duchhesses of Russia. There children were also refered to as Grand Dukes or Grand Duchesses; but whne you get to the third generation the children no longer recieve that title. They are just plain Princes or Princesses. The fourth generation children COULD be styled as Prince or Princesses but there was nevera guarantee.

None, unless the Father has one.

Take the 2 current cases in Great Britain.

#1 - HRH, Princess Margaret. Her husband took the title of Lord Snowdon, so her Children are Lord Linley and Lady Sarah Chatto. Her son is a Viscount only because her husband allowed the Queen to bestow the Title.

#2 - HRH, The Princess Royal, Princess Anne. Her husband, Captain Mark Phillips (1st husband, father of her children), never accepted a family title from HRH, The Queen, therefore, Princess Annes children are simply known as Peter Mark Andrew Phillips, born 15th November 1977, and Zara Anne Elizabeth Phillips, born 15th May 1981.

So, unlike her brothers whose children automatically carry their titles, Prince or Princess, Princess Anne and Princess Margaret were dependent on their husbands for titles for their children.

It depends on what country she is from. In Great Britni, a title is only passed on from the father or bestowed by the monarch. As is the case with Princess Anne, she only has the title because her mother (the Queen) gave it to her. The same as the Queen bestowed the title of prince to her husband. Those titles were not inherited by either birth or marriage. Princess Anne's daughter is therefor called Zara because her father had no title. The daughter of Princess Margaret however is Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones because her father is a Lord.

My daughter will be 4 in about 3 months, we've called her princess because the day she become born. She has an older and youthful brother. sure she has princess toys and flicks and garments (both gown up and wide-spread). yet she would not act like she is "entitled" to at least some thing. Nicknames aren't from now on making an body of ideas. How a baby is raised will cause them to act that way.

Well depends on the actual princess in question and which royal family.

But they will generally be called prince & princess, as is the case with Prince William and Prince Henry

Princess Anne, ( Britain) refused titles for her children, so they have no title. They are simply Peter and Zara Phillips. The Queen can bestow any title on her grandchildren.
