When I place a CD or DVD in the computer and close the door, it causes the computer to restart. It does this every time. Someone said I might have a weak motherboard. Any help or advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance! BB

Actually, it sounds more like a faulty power supply. The motor that operates the CD might be putting too much load on a failing power supply, thus causing the blip.

Could be a lot of things... that would just be my first guess.

To tell if you have a damage or weak motherboard, first symptom is that when saving files it is very slow, second when you play games and save your game it suddenly close the program, third the monitor fluctuates, fourth when you start your computer the monitor screen appears slow, then some of your peripherals of your computer cannot be detected like sound devices, network problem, downloading and lastly your power source deteriorate.

This a good one - but I do not think it has anything to do with your motherboard. I would check your CD burning software - there are some that have a box to check for restarting after burning.
First law of troubleshooting - check the physical first - open the case up - make sure all the connections are tight.

on the cable that conects to the drive, it has red on the edge. make sure that red side is closest to the power conection. the mother board should not have any drainage of power because the board and drive recieve power from power suply. it always helps to list your processor speed and memory to so people can analize a problem.

Sounds to me like your power supply isn't suppling enough power to run everything. Try upgrading the wattage on your comp and see if that fixes it.
