Hello I have been tring to work ALL of these and have no luck! PLEASE ANSWER!!

3. A certan plane can fly 210 mph in calm air. If the plane can travel 540 miles against the wind in the same amount of time it can travel 810 miles with the wind, then what is the rate of the wind.

4. On a certan 12-mile mountian bike course, Jason can complete the course in the same time it takes Travis to complete 9.5 miles of the course. If Jason's average rate of speed is 2 mph faster than Travis, then what are their average rates?

FOR PROBLEMS 5 AND 6: Joe and his best friend Chris are at the opposite ends of the park. They are both going to skateboard towards each other and meet inside the park. if they are 8 miles apart, start at the same time, and Joe skateboards 7mph and Chris skateboards 5mph, then...

5. How far will each of them travel?
6. How long will it take them to meet?

3. H = # hours the plane is flying. Vw = wind speed.

540 / H = 210 - Vw

814 / H = 210 + Vw

Solve one for H, plug it into the other. Solve new combined eq. for Vw and you will have your answer.

4. Vj = Jason's velocity (mph) Vt = Travis' velocity (mph)
t = time it takes to complete the course (hours)

Vj = Vt + 2
Vj = 12 / t
Vt = 9.5 / t

Plug equations 2 & 3 into eq. 1, solve for t. Plug t back into eq. 2 & 3 for velocities of Jason & Travis.

5&6:

Vj = Jason's velocity. Vc = Chris' velocity. t = time (same for both). dj = distance Jason travels. dc = distance Chris travels. dt = total distance (8 mi.)

dj = Vj * t
dc = Vc * t
dt = dj + dc

Plug eq. 1 & 2 into eq. 3, solve for time (answer to q. 5)

Plug time into eq. 1 & 2, solve distance each boy (answer q.6)

that's the fourth desperate algebra question you have asked this evening. try doing all your guy or woman homework, truly of spending plenty time attempting to get somebody else to do it for you.
