Why do we always want what we can't have and when we get it we disregard it?

Part of the perplexities of human nature but not everyone does this-depends on the individual esp those who are easily bored or who can't get,have enough and still never satisfied---have a Big Hole labeled Need that has no bottom for never can get filled -actually pretty miserable people. Those who count their blessings instead of those always whining about their needs are fortunate not to suffer from this condition.

We like the challenge of achieving something that someone tells us we can't do or that we ourselves believe we can't do. But, like most things in life, once the thing is accomplished we realize it wasn't as great as we thought it would be. A grass isn't always greener sort of scenario I suppose.

It's the nature of human being. Without this instinctive behaviour, we can't evolve. We would still look like we were 3 million years ago.

i don't think that's true. we want what know we need. we disregard it once we have it because we then have more needs, and can't just keep worrying about what we already have.

It's the "grass is greener" effect...our minds get us all worked up and make us think that what we don't have will fix our lives if we have it...the truth is, it just NEVER works that way....
