When I didn't even download it? Is this a virus to the computer? How do I go about removing it off of my computer?

SpyCather is at best a flawed anti-spyware program and at worst (usual) either adware or spyware. You got it by visiting a website and perhaps even trying to close and advertisement "window" that decares you may be infected with spyware. The advertisemet was not a real window even though it looked like one. It was an image that linked to another site.

Even though you never intentionally downloaded the file, it did download to your computer.

Get rid of it by gettig the following two programs and running BOTH.

Adaware SE
SpyBot S&D

These are good atni-spyware/adware programs. I use both on a regular (weekly minimum) basis.

Do you mean SpyCatcher? If you do mean SpyCatcher, this is an antispyware program developed by Tenebril, a respectable security software maker. SpyCatcher is a real antispyware program and not a rogue antispyware program. Here is the link to Tenebril's SpyCatcher http://www.tenebril.com/consumer/spyware/spycatcher.php

If it is not from Tenebril then there is a good chance it is a rogue antispyware program (i.e. a program that claims to remove spyware but in fact installs it. There are quite a few of them. Spyware Warrior's website has a comprehensive list of these rogue antispyware programs at http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

If you wish to remove it, first try the Add/Remove Program... under Control Panel. Should that fail, you can download and use RogueRemover FREE 1.12 (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/RogueRemover_FREE/1167150912/1), which removes many known rogue antispyware programs. Afterwards, you should consider installing some genuine antispyware programs, such as: Lavasoft's Ad Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy and Microsoft's Windows Defender. You can find these all programs at http://www.filehippo.com/software/antispyware/

go to the control panel on your computer and click "add and remove programs". From there, you find the program and remove it. Then restart your computer.

The program removes spyware, not cause it.
Don't be alarmed.
