Go back again. My cousin was sent home, similar to you, and she ended up having the baby at home. It is always better to check things out and follow your instincts.

My advice to you is to drink a bunch of water!!!!!! MAny times contractions can start up if you get dehydrated. I have had four kids and been in similar situations as you. You really do not sound like it is even close to labor time. I was dialated to 3 cm for weeks and 80% effaced for two weeks and it didnt mean a thing!
When the time comes, your body will tell you even more. Sometimes these awful contractions are Braxton Hicks (even though they can feel like the real thing!) I advise you to eat some healthy snacks, (nuts or fruits or veggies) stay away from caffeine, coffee, candy and sweets and drink so much water that you feel full and like you will turn into a fish from water overload. Make sure you get enough rest and are not over doing it! You need to take it easy and take as many naps as possible right now because you will be much more tired in the weeks to come. It is amazing what water and a little relaxation can help with!!! Good luck and happy parenting!

First Congrats! If they are 5 minutes apart for 45 minutes I'd call the doctor again and go to the hospital. If they are still far apart you may not be dilating because you are so tense, Try getting in a warm bath (no bubble bath, just water) and that will probably soothe you a little bit. A shower will help too but the bath will take dome of the pressure off that is making you uncomfortable. Good luck.

I would get back to the hospital if you are having bad contractions, especially if they are getting closer together, or you may end up having that baby at home or in the car! At 37 weeks you are far enough along that it's pretty safe for the baby to be born, so don't stress too much about that. Sounds like you might be having an addition very soon - congratulations!

When you can time them, every 3-5 mins. apart and consistantly and last anywhere from 45secs. to a minute and a half. Call YOUR doctor or the hospital where you plan to deliver, and tell them how far apart and the length of each one. They will probably ask you on a scale of 1-10, how bad they hurt. This will give them the indication of how far you may be into labor. Good luck,God Bless and Congrats!

Get back to the hospital, unless you are planning on a home birth. I have many friends that walked around dialated, but the fact that you are 50% effaced makes me wonder what kind of doctor you are seeing. At least go back and get checked again, it can go really fast. Good luck to you!

Unfortunately, this stage of labor can take FOREVER, especially with your first baby. You should continue to walk as much as you feel like you can, but also get as much rest/sleep as you can. Sounds like you will be going into "active" labor soon and you won't be able to get rest like you will now. That's probably why they sent you home. Most people rest better in their own beds. If you continue to be in a lot of pain, you can always go back, but honestly, they will probably send you back home again. Once they start coming a little closer together or if your water breaks - get back to the hospital. Good luck!

if you feel they are bad go back but if you can still stand the pain don't go yet you will be able to do more at home i was the same way they stopped my labor at 37 weeks so that may be why they sent you home if you can stay home til your water breaks it will not seem so long when you get there or i didn't think it did good luck and congrats if this is your first you may think your contractions are worst than they are i know i did!

There isn't really anything you can do, it's part of having a baby. Hospitals usually won't admit you until you're in active labor (basically when they start to hurt bad). Walking can help if you're trying to get labor going. Make sure you drink plenty of water, dehydration can cause false labor.

Best thing to do is walk....walk until you can't walk no more. I walked the halls at the hospital...would double over when a contraction came....breathe through it and continue my walk. They really don't want you there until the contractions are about 5 minutes apart.
