To achieve their goal of freedom, Miguel Hidalgo led a great army through many cities of Mexico. First, they conquered Dolores, and then moved into the cities of Atotonilco, San Miguel el grande (Allende), Chamucuero, and Celaya. It was at Celaya that Hidalgo was awarded the rank of Captain General. Following his promotion, General Hidalgo took his army into the cities of Salmanca, Iraput and Silao. He continued leading his army until finally reaching Guanajuato. Captain General Miguel Hidalgo was executed July 18, 1811.
A run-on sentence is basically two separate sentences within one sentence. It is to long and wordy, and makes understanding the sentence difficult. Just watch your punctuation and grammar, and if your sentence is long, try to say it in a different way that still makes sense but with less words. Sometimes, you need to make one long sentence two sentences. Good luck.

Hopefully that helps...though at the end you should probabaly put something that saayd he got captured or something like that...and really if you dont understand the assignment, ask the teacher to help you understand...thats what they are there for and dont worry they wont think you stupid or anything like that...
