Our baby, now 9 months, started drooling between 8-10 weeks, but his first teeth didn't come in until he was 5 months old! (That was a lot of drool!) Probably not a problem, but if it eats at you, maybe your pediatrician's office has an "ask a nurse" line you could call? Better to ask than let it get under your skin.

Drooling, as you probably know is a sign of teething. Teething symptoms typically start a few months before the first tooth actually makes an appearance. Our little guy was dry and all of his bibs seemed useless and then almost overnight the taps turned on. He started drooling big time at around 8 weeks and just cut his first tooth at about 6 months. Not to worry.

You have a normal six-week-old. Drooling, wow. Don't fantasize stuff about 'he has stomach pain' with no evidence to back it up. He's a baby, he's really new to the world and freaked out; crying for a half hour is not a big deal and neither is lots of drool. Rock him and nurse him and walk about the house with him and so on; he'll wind down eventually.

My daughters were (are droolers). The first one drooled from the beginning (I went through many bibs a day) and she cut her first tooth at 5 months. The baby started drooling at around 2 1/2 months. Not much drool with my son though.

it's not irregular for a baby to drool past three weeks away from birth. this could be related to teething and\or an over active gland. i'm not a doctor but if this persist then maybe its time to break out the oragel junior. this sounds to be a strong child if teething is the problem. may God bless all children.

Funny how I'd forgotten how "drooly" they can be. My pediatritian asked me today if my 8 week old had started to drool, and she hasn't. He said that even though she won't be cutting teeth until around 7 months, that she could/would start drooling at anytime.

I have a friend who had a baby who started teething at 6 weeks and teeth are all still coming in. My baby's teeth didn't come in until she was 11 months, but it is possible for them to teethe that early.
