Usually when this happens its because of a distributor cap or rotor. I would replace both. check the ignition wires. Power break it in the drive way . If it starts missing. replace wires. Lack of power when its hot could be caused by the clutch fan. Some times when they get old they stay engaged. If you put the heavy duty one on it will really lack power. When you rev up your engine do you hear it roar. Usually this is how i know instantly.. the 4.3l is a really good motor. Basic maint. will keep it that way.. If the fan and the ignition system is new. Let me know and we will go further.. Good luck..

i own a repair shop, and i think whats causing it to pop back through the throttle body is the timing chain and gears in it,if its got over 100 k on it you need to get it changed before it jumps timing, which it may have already have done, when one pops like that's its a sign the timing chain is bad in it,and needs changed,if you wait till it gets bad enough to jump timing or it breaks the chain in it,they may have to pull the motor out of it to clean the oil pan out on it ,on these ones you cant remove the pan without removing the engine, good luck,i hope this help,s.

This is such a simple answer, sounds like you have a worn intake cam lob on your camshaft or a burnt intake valve. Take to a repair shop and have them do a compression test to pinpoint which one is worn on the camshaft.
