I have some old LPs that I want to transfer to CD's using my MacBook Pro. Can anyone recommend a turntable to purchase-and if in fact, it is possible to do this.
Thanks

You will not be able to connect it to the line in of your computer, as suggested by the previous correspondent.

You will need a pre-amplifier. They are available as a stand-alone unit or you may use the pre-amp output from an integrated amplifer or receiver.

If you are a "serious" listener, buy the most expensive turntable/cartridge you can afford. It will retrieve more from the record than a cheap and cheerful one, and it will retain its value for when you want to sell it after you transfer the recordings.

Do a little research into "audiophile" equipment. Look at the second-hand pages in the hi-fi press and take a look on eBay.

Yes ... you can do that...
you have to buy one that have the out connections like the ones you use in a VCR (audio Red & White), then use a cord to convert this connectors to a plug for the line-in of your computer..
or connect it on the microphone-in of your Mac...
then use any sound editor progam to record the LPs and save like mp3 file !!!
