a used item is typically worth about half the new value once it is taken out of its package, but you might be able to get a bit more for it.

I get RAM in new(second tier makers), or refurbished Micron and other First Tier maker's sealed packages, with warrantee, for about $20 for 512Mb.

Buying used, and not knowing if you used a ESD workstation to handle it, means I might get a blown and defective stick. The shipping and hassle is too much in those cases.

Plus, I can get bulk memory cheaper on the web from http://pricewatch.com vendors.

Did you handle it with an ESD strap, and is it in the correct ESD package? Do I get a replacement warranty?

Much less than $50, since there is no way to determine if it is bad ram or not and if it turns out that it is, you can't get an exchange. On ebay they seem to go for $20-$30.

Depends on what it is, pc133, ddr, ddr2 ... you can expect maybe $10 to $15 for it provided you buy more.
