I just got a 3 month old ferret- the youngest I have ever owned (the rest were older rescues) and he has been doing the pyscho ferret routine for about 1 hour now with no sign of stopping.....how long do young ferrets go before they tire out? The longest I have seen out of the adults was 45 minutes.
Thanks in advance for serious answers (forever does not count as one!)

When we had two young ferrets they could keep at it for hours. They usually played harder and longer and slept harder and longer than older guys. Especially in any new place to explore. Good luck and enjoy watching him!

Well since no two ferrets are really alike it's hard to say. My first ferret I got would play for about 30 minutes each time. Then I got another one and now they play for hours a day. I be more concerned if it weren't acting like a crazy ferret....then you would know that something is wrong. I'd say just let it tire its little self out each day and pretty soon you'll know and you'll have a set play time for the little one.

I have a 6 month old & she has been known to be up playing for 2 hours. Of course after that we do not see her for the rest of the day. I think each ferret is different in their sleep patterns. I have 3 & they all seem to require different amounts.

have you ever seen a human baby? what's the 1st element they do while checking some thing out. They placed it of their mouth. the comparable is with youthful ferrets. Ferrets additionally play rougher than maximum pets. in case you prepare them good then they are going to learn how to no longer chew or a minimum of no longer chew complicated (I call it touching the teeth or ferret tag). while your ferret has bitten too complicated, in the present day scruff them (choosing it up via the extra skin on the best of its neck) and drag them alongside the floor some inches. that's how ferret mamas say "sufficient already!" Then in a company tone say "No chew!" enable them to circulate to maintain taking part in or despite they're doing. in the event that they circulate to chew you lower back, they're problematic "mama". purely Wash, Rinse, Repeat. Ferrets are notably intelligent creatures yet would be obdurate at situations. As to the chase play, this is truly frequent ferret habit. I actual have one ferret which will conceal in the back of my husband while something are being placed to mattress of their cage. while it turns into his turn he dances and pounces lower back and forth. you may almost pay attention him say, "can no longer seize me!" you additionally can attempt to coach him that that is totally nicely to chew in the adventure that your hand is cushioned in a sock yet no longer if bare. I actual have had some success in that. despite you do, constantly be comfortable, quite with a baby ferret. do no longer spank or hit them. they don't understand this is punishment and can regard it whilst play. it would probably stay as a "kitten on speed" because it grows up. savour it and the exhilaration it provides.

I had one sweet girl who would go for over an hour. I'd say if it gets past two or so, then you might call a vet. Put your houseplants up and good luck!

your best bet is getting another psycho ferret to play psycho ferret games with him so he isn't playing psycho ferret on your head. of course then you might have 2 playing psycho ferret on your head.
