Jules Verne or H.G. Wells? Strictly as Science Fiction authors.

I would vote for Verne. Wells was more interested in commenting on current social conditions, thinly disguised, while Verne was more of a visionary. "Paris in the Twentieth Century" managed to get a few things right! Now, I'll admit that "War of the Worlds" was and is iconic as is the Invisible Man; but so is Nemo and "Around the World in 80 Days."

Haven't gotten around to any Jules Verne yet, but I adore H.G. Wells. The Invisible Man is a chilling story....one that obviously endures the test of time.
