I really enjoyed the Freddie Mercury Tribute from 1992 and I recently saw the James Taylor Musicares Tribute. I love seeing these dvds where other artists perform the music of another. I know the tv show Crossroads does that but they are not on DVD yet. Do you know any cool ones I should check out?

Eric Clapton put this together for his dear friend on 11-29-02. George's son Dhani bears a remarkable likeness to his father.

I was going to recommend the "Concert for Life - Tribute to Freddie Mercury" but you saw it already. I've never seen anything like it before, with all the biggest artists and bands. I think it's the best. You might wanna check out the original "Live Aid" and the recent "Live 8" DVDs. It's not a tribute concert but the performances are really good.

"Genius: A Tribute to Ray Charles" was pretty good as far as tribute concerts go.
"Standing In The Shadow Of Motown" is a fantastic documentary about the Funk Brothers, the studio musicians who performed on all the Motown hits of the 60's and early 70's. The Funk Brothers recorded more #1 hits than Elvis, the Beatles, The Beach Boys, and The Rolling Stones combined. The documentary is a tribute to those musicians, especially bass player James Jamison. The documetary features the surviving Funk Brothers playing with Bootsy Collins, Joan Osbourne and other singers covering the Motown hits.
